Christchurch was host to the third annual exhibition of SWoA. Set in the

Pūmanawa Exhibition Space at the Art Centre, we once again challenged perceptions and encouraged viewers to consider what stereotypes and stigmas they hold.

Entries for 2021 pushed the boundaries of sex work lead story telling, bringing a truth and a rawness that confronted many viewers and brought about passion in others.

The 2021 exhibit brought about controversy when Simon of Art Metro let us know what he really thinks about the sex industry. Ultimately this led to more media coverage and greater awareness for the sex industry.

Christchurch Art School director in email row comparing sex work to slavery

An email row, in which a Christchurch Art School director compared sex work to slavery, has gone public.

Jordan Quinn has posted her exchange with Art Metro director Simon Walmisley on Twitter after she emailed him hoping he'd promote the annual Sex Workers of Aotearoa; A Day in the Life of, 2021 exhibition.

Instead she got back a blunt response from the former New Conservative Ilam candidate...

Sex workers destigmatising their profession through art

Artworks offering insight into the lives of sex workers are being featured in a national exhibition that aims to change stereotypes and stigma. Vicki Anderson reports.

As a sex worker, Reagan Fox applies makeup and chooses an outfit, she takes on her work persona.

Her artwork of three skulls, titled Ivy, Indy and Skye, is based around her sense of ''self'' and her stage names.
